Hymn 220

All Hymns are based on old Swedish folk music hymns. The origins for these melodies are very old, going minimum 100 to 150 years back.

Hymn 220
The first version of Hymn 220 was for organ solo, the cello version was added some time later. The piece starts with the development section right from the start, the themes are subject to different approaches and harmonic treatment. The complete, harmonized melody is played at the very end of the piece, either by a solo organ voice, or by a cello, in the cello and organ version.

The Finale music notation program simulations (that are used for most of the excerpts), are far from perfect. I could have used recordings from an actual performance, but the simulations provide a "neutral" interpretation, and together with the score, they give a fairly relevant picture of the music in question.
